When Kelsey reached out shortly before their session to share the sweetest update (“We just found out we’re pregnant. Can we take a few announcement photos?”), I immediately said yes…and quietly held in the biggest secret of my own. I had just found out I was pregnant days earlier, and capturing this milestone for another growing family felt like such a full-circle moment.

Their Story: From Marine Corps Leave to Minnesota Roots

Kelsey and Laurence’s relationship began back in 2009, when mutual friends introduced them while she was in college in Winona and he was home on leave from the Marine Corps. After he left the military in 2013 and started school in the Cities, their friendship gradually turned into something much deeper.

They married in 2020 after both finishing grad school, spent seven beautiful years in Saint Paul, and finally planted roots in Big Lake: a place that reflects Laurence’s farm upbringing and their love for slower, quieter, intentional living.

They’re playful, grounded, and truly best friends. Their favorite dates? Spontaneous food adventures and wandering parks with pretty trails...simple moments that fit them perfectly.
